What -no interactive whiteboard yet?

Today I visited the build site, it's a lot more organized than 2 weeks ago. The subfloor is up. Shelves and even some big whiteboards on the peripheral fence. Sadly the 'eshed' doesn't have the smart board installed in it yet. I think this has been a real down side to progress with the e side of the course. The lectures dont have that connection with moodle first thing in their half hour introduction to the day which is what we planned for. However on a positive note most of the students are blogging . Even tho there is little structure to them and a disconnection with the assessment tasks we are aware of that and making some modifications to the delivery. One thing that we thought should be done very early on is have exemplars for the students to follow . Finally this is happening. Steve is busy working on his exemplar for one of site set out tasks. The students have seen this but it's not on moodle yet. U am very keen to have a bit more interaction on moodle and to have some wAy to build in more early warning signs do we can check students progress. But I am finding that things have to move at the pace of the lecturers a bit . Have no agreed to meet weekly now.

Catch up with the students

Today Steve and I spent 3 hrs with the students in a computer lab. We thought by breaking up the group we could get a better idea of where students are up to . It's been difficult as haven't had the use of a quiet classroom as much as we hoped. On the whole students are getting the hang of the blogs, but the next step is to get some structure so we are getting them to create labels and pages for the specific tasks . We gave spent a bit of time looking at the instructions on moodle as well do will be setting up regular weekly catch up sessions for blogging (away from the builders site). Some of the issues have been getting the difference between a post and a page and then being able to follow someone's blog.
